It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a squad that has achieved everything.

That it took up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It is hard for their hitters to maintain a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Ultimately, the result of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to produce her newest gem.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her debut and seven global championships have come from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

Whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Some will argue the case for championship match pressure. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was considerably tougher to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this innings followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it's been a challenging time because it appeared I lacked timing whatsoever," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit kick in and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and after that the batsman was in motion.

"The possibility to take the field and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself that way, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

When she was removed Australia required another 66 at one run per ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the assurance to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if necessary, we believe we can succeed."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this tournament want to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this triumph following success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they left last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated through the pain.
